Privacy policy
This site does not ask you to sign up and does not see what you type into its tools. Data is processed in four ways: hosting, visitor statistics from Google Analytics, advertising from Google AdSense, and emails you choose to send us.
Updated:
Summary
- The site is static: there are no user accounts, no sign-up or contact forms, no comments and no newsletter.
- The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages, which processes basic request data to deliver pages and protect the site.
- Google Analytics 4 measures how the site is used, only on the live domain. In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, analytics and advertising storage are denied by default until you consent.
- Google AdSense shows ads on the site. Google and its partners may use cookies to show ads based on your visits to this and other websites. You can turn off personalized ads in Google’s Ads Settings.
- The Gothic lettering generator, the copy-prompt buttons and downloads run entirely in your browser. Nothing you type is sent to us.
- If you email us, we use your address only to reply.
The rest of this page explains each point.
Who is responsible
This policy covers gothictattooideas.com and all of its language versions. “We” and “us” mean the independent publisher of Gothic Tattoo Ideas. You can reach us about anything in this policy at the address on our contact page.
Information you give us
The only personal information we receive directly is what you put in an email: your email address, your name if you include it, and whatever you write. We use it to answer your message and, for corrections, to check and fix the page you wrote about. We keep emails only as long as we need them for that purpose, and you can ask us to delete yours at any time.
There are no forms, comment sections or accounts on the site, so there is no other way to send us personal information through it.
Information collected automatically
Hosting (Cloudflare Pages)
The site is a set of static files served by Cloudflare Pages. When your browser requests a page, Cloudflare necessarily processes technical data such as your IP address, the page requested, the time, your browser type and the referring page. This is used to deliver the site, keep it secure and block abusive traffic. We do not use it to identify individual visitors. Cloudflare describes its handling of this data in the Cloudflare privacy policy.
Visitor statistics (Google Analytics)
We use Google Analytics 4, a Google service, to understand how the site is used: which pages and designs people view, how they arrive (for example from a search engine), roughly which country they are in, and what kind of device and browser they use. This helps us decide which motifs, guides and designs to improve. We see these figures only as totals and reports, not as information about named people.
- Google Analytics runs only on the live domain. Preview copies of the site and local development versions do not load it.
- The site uses Google Consent Mode. For visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, analytics storage and advertising storage are set to “denied” by default. No analytics cookies are set unless you give consent. Without consent, Google receives only limited, cookieless signals.
- Where cookies are allowed, Google Analytics sets first-party cookies whose names start with _ga to tell visits apart. They do not contain your name or email address.
- Google Analytics 4 does not log or store IP addresses. Google uses them briefly to estimate a general location and then discards them.
- You can stop Google Analytics on every site with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on, or by blocking cookies in your browser.
How Google handles this data is described in Google’s privacy policy and in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.
Advertising (Google AdSense)
The site is free to use and is paid for by ads. The ads are served by Google AdSense, an advertising service run by Google. We do not choose which individual ads you see, and we do not receive your name or email address from Google.
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or to other websites.
- Google’s use of advertising cookies lets Google and its partners serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the internet. These cookies can also limit how often you see an ad and measure how well ads perform.
- Other ad partners. Besides Google, third-party vendors and ad networks approved through Google’s advertising products may also place and read cookies, or use web beacons and similar technologies, to serve and measure ads on this site. You can see the list of Google’s ad technology providers.
- Your choices. You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google’s Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors’ use of cookies for personalized advertising at aboutads.info (United States), youronlinechoices.eu (Europe) or youradchoices.ca (Canada). If you opt out, you will still see ads, but they will be less related to your interests.
- In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, advertising storage is denied by default. Personalized ads are shown only if you agree in the consent message; otherwise Google shows non-personalized or limited ads, which use cookies only for purposes such as frequency capping, fraud prevention and aggregated reporting, where the law allows.
How Google uses data in advertising is explained in How Google uses cookies in advertising and in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.
Cookies
Our own code does not set cookies. The cookies on the site come from two Google services:
| Service | Purpose | Examples |
|---|---|---|
| Google Analytics | Counting visits and understanding how the site is used | _ga, ga* |
| Google AdSense | Serving ads, limiting repeats, measuring ads and preventing fraud | Google advertising cookies such as __gads, __gpi and IDE |
In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, these cookies are used for analytics and personalized ads only after you consent. You can block or delete cookies at any time in your browser’s settings, and the site keeps working normally without them.
Tools that run in your browser
The Gothic lettering generator works entirely on your device. When you type a name or phrase, it is rendered by code running in your browser. The text is not sent to us, not logged and not stored on any server.
The same is true for the “copy prompt” buttons in the gallery, which place the prompt on your clipboard, and for any file you download from the site: these actions happen in your browser, and we do not receive a record of what you copied or saved.
Links to other websites
Some pages link to other websites, such as museums and reference sources. Those sites have their own privacy practices, which we do not control.
Children
This site is about tattoos, which in most countries are only available to adults. It is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 in parts of Europe), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has emailed us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- ask what personal information we hold about you,
- ask us to correct or delete it,
- object to or restrict how it is used,
- withdraw consent you have given, for example to analytics or advertising cookies,
- complain to your local data protection authority.
If you live in the EU, the UK or Switzerland (GDPR and equivalent laws), the legal basis for answering your emails is our legitimate interest in responding to people who contact us, and for analytics cookies and personalized advertising it is your consent.
If you live in California (CCPA) or another US state with a privacy law, we do not sell the personal information you send us by email. Google AdSense may use cookies and device identifiers for personalized advertising, which some state laws treat as “sharing” or “targeted advertising.” You can opt out through Google’s Ads Settings or the Digital Advertising Alliance opt-out, and by using a browser that sends a Global Privacy Control signal.
To exercise any of these rights, write to the address on our contact page. We will reply within the time the law requires.
International transfers and security
Cloudflare and Google operate worldwide, so data they process may be handled in countries other than your own, including the United States. Both companies describe their safeguards in their own privacy policies. The site is served only over encrypted HTTPS connections.
Changes to this policy
If we change how the site handles data, for example by adding new analytics or advertising partners, we will update this page first and change the “Updated” date at the top.
